The God Who Sees

THEN SHE CALLED THE NAME OF THE LORD WHO SPOKE TO HER, YOU-ARE-THE-GOD-WHO-SEES; FOR SHE SAID, “HAVE I ALSO HERE SEEN HIM WHO SEES ME?”

GENESIS 16:13

On Sunday, there was a rock in my boot. The tiny nuisance rolled around every time I took a step, so I was never sure where it would pierce my sock-less sole. I smiled and chatted about the week and weather, and no one knew what was happening in my shoe. I thought later how common it was to smile through pain in one’s soul, even at church. The beautiful thing about attending a women’s conference like Breakthrough is that it offers you space and opportunity to remove your shoe and expose the pebble. Maybe you don’t know what’s piercing your soul, you just know the ache. God knows. God sees you. Taking time to sit with Him and other believers who have been praying for you by name softens you and allows you to shed the garments of self-protection and expose your soul to the Light where there’s truth and hope and freedom.
