“God said” and “it was so”

Genesis 1 is a poetic rhythm of “God said” and “it was so,” until His creation of man. Genesis 2:7 says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” The God of the universe, Who, by the sound of His voice, moved the waters to make space for land and filled the sky with extravagance, formed man. Our heavenly Father knelt down, gathered dust in His mighty, affectionate hands and formed man in His image. He is a personal God. Consider the intimacy! Every other thing in heaven and earth could have been created from a distance. But not you! God took your substance into His hands, saw the entirety of your life, took His time gathering, forming, breathing life into you. Before even the foundations of the earth were made, He knew you by name. Cling to the truth in Psalms 139: “O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You examine thoroughly my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And You laid Your hand upon me.” He formed you. He knows you. He loves you. And He invites you to abide intimately with Him.
